Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Nahitan Nandez but, according to FC Inter News, the Premier League club is being used as a pawn in negotiations as the Cagliari star awaits a move to Inter Milan.
At this stage of the window, as want-away players and their overworked agents grow increasingly panicked, we’d advise taking everything you read with a pinch of salt large enough to season a month’s supply of McDonald’s fries.
After Nandez turned down moves to Leeds United and Arsenal, Sardinia-based publication Cento Trentuno reported Cagliari were looking to sell their £30 million-rated Uruguay international to Tottenham instead.
Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini recently admitted the Serie A strugglers may need to sell a star player or two as they look to strengthen their covid-hit coffers.
And Nandez, who’s training alone after being left out of Cagliari’s pre-season training camp, is perhaps the most sellable asset plying his trade at the Sardegna Arena.
Nandez wants to go. And if Cagliari receive a bid in the region of £30 million, nobody will stand in his way.

Is Nahitan Nandez to Tottenham merely a transfer rumour?
Unfortunately, big-money offers have been in short supply this summer.
Leeds couldn’t afford him – offering to sign Nandez on loan instead – while Inter Milan have been unable to dot the Is and cross the Ts despite agreeing a £60,000-a-week deal with the all-action midfielder a number of weeks ago.
FC Inter News suggests Tottenham are being used as a pawn in negotiations, their name tossed into the ring as Cagliari look to scare the Nerazzurri into action.
After selling Romelu Lukaku for close to £100 million, the Scudetto holders should have plenty of cash to splash ahead of what could be a frantic end to the transfer window.
The report adds Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici hasn’t even held talks with Nandez’s agent.
