Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing the AC Milan midfielder.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino seems to be on the crest of achieving something very special at the club, but he must strengthen his options over the next two transfer windows, if he is to guide his side to their first top flight title since 1961.
One of Spurs’ rumoured targets is believed to be AC Milan ace Franck Kessié, according to Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Italian publication also claim that Chelsea want the £36 million-rated midfielder, and should Tottenham beat their London rivals to the Ivory Coast international’s signature, it would be a sign of just how far they have come over the past few years.
Kessié is a real powerhouse of a midfielder, and he would add some real tenacity and energy to Spurs’ engine room.
With Mousa Dembele’s contract set to expire in the summer, and Victor Wanyama facing an uncertain future in north London, Pochettino will be desperate to add more quality to his options in the middle of the park, and the AC Milan ace would be just the ticket.
Tottenham will have their work cut-out, if they want to bring Kessié to north London this month, however, with Chelsea allegedly in the running to sign the 22-year-old.
It could be argued that Spurs are a more attractive prospect than the Blues at the moment, however, and the AC Milan man’s game is seemingly ideally suited to Pochettino’s high-octane setup.
Tottenham would be proving that they have real ambition, should they beat Chelsea to Kessié’s signature, and it could turn out to be the signing that takes Pochettino’s side to the next level that they so desperately crave.
