Tottenham Hotspur ace Ryan Sessegnon is anticipating a ‘crazy’ game against bitter rivals Arsenal when the two sides meet in May.
Tensions between Tottenham and Arsenal are frayed at the best of times, presenting one of the bigger rivalries in English football.
This meeting between the two teams in May is already primed to be one of the biggest in recent memory.
To start with, Tottenham fans still aren’t best pleased with Arsenal for having their original meeting in January postponed.
Spurs fans will be right up for the game for that reason, and the three points on offer could be absolutely crucial.
Arsenal and Tottenham now appear to be in a straight fight for fourth spot in the Premier League with Manchester United and West Ham United outside bets.
Tottenham sit three points ahead of Arsenal as things stand, and with their meeting coming just 10 days before the end of the season, a win for either side could clinch Champions League football.
That’s enormous for both teams – and Tottenham ace Sessegnon is already anticipating a momentous occasion.
Speaking to ESPN, Sessegnon noted that he doesn’t hail from North London but he absolutely understands the importance of this game.
Both teams fighting for the top four adds so much to this game and Sessegnon believes that will make for a ‘crazy, crazy game’.
Sessegnon added that finishing in the top four would be ‘massive’ for Tottenham, seemingly understanding that they need to beat Arsenal to get there.
“We want to keep the run going and I think the game against them might be decisive,” said Sessegnon. “I’m not originally from north London but I know the type of rivalry between London teams, especially with the next door neighbours there fighting for the same thing. It’ll be a crazy, crazy game. For us, if we were to finish fourth, it would be a massive achievement for the club,” he added.
Having been comfortably beaten by Arsenal back in September, Tottenham have to produce better result and performance this time.
There has been a big improvement in Tottenham under Antonio Conte, with the team almost unrecognisable from Nuno Espirito Santo’s nightmare at the Emirates Stadium.
That will give Tottenham hope of a big win over the Gunners – and subsequent Champions League qualification.
