Andros Townsend thinks both Tottenham and Arsenal will miss out on the top-four once again next season, as he told talkSPORT (02/09/20 at 6:45 am).

The Crystal Palace winger stated that he has to give Manchester United the final Champions League spot ‘at the minute’.

Apart from Liverpool, and to a certain extent Manchester City, it seems as though many clubs in England’s top-flight are in transition – and those in North London aren’t any different.

Whilst the Spurs fans will like that Townsend has backed them to finish above the Gunners next season, they will hate, along with Arsenal fans, his opinion that Champions League football will elude them once again.

“City, Liverpool, Chelsea and that last place I would give it to Manchester United at the minute,” Townsend told talkSPORT.

“But I think Spurs and Arsenal will probably be just slightly behind them, but they can, with a couple of signings, and if Harry Kane is on form, they can break into that top-four.

On who finishes fifth: “Spurs, Spurs,” Townsend replied with speed and without hesitation.

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer signings

  1. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

    £15 million; Southampton

  2. Joe Hart

    Free

  3. Matt Doherty

    £13 million; Wolves

  4. Sergio Reguilon

    £25 million; Real Madrid

  5. Gareth Bale

    Loan; Real Madrid

  6. Carlos Vinicius

    Loan; Benfica

  7. Joe Rodon

    £12 million; Swansea

Chelsea have been spending big and purchased a lot of high-quality European talent from Timo Werner to Hakim Ziyech – many have not only backed them for a top-four finish but to challenge for the title.

But the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United will feel they are next in line, with all three managers of those club under big pressure to deliver the goods for next season.

Arsenal have added the likes of Gabriel and Willian to their ranks, whilst United recently purchased Donny van de Beek, and Spurs’ best signing so far has been the underrated Wolves defender, Matt Doherty.
