What a dismal last two weeks it has been for Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have sacked a manager, lost a cup final and marginalised most of the club’s fans following the botched European Super League effort.

It’s safe to say that Spurs have enjoyed better fortnights.

But the North Londoners are reportedly about to get a massive piece of good news.

According to The Express, Son Heung-min is ‘on the verge’ of signing a new contract at Tottenham.

The report claims that the South Korean is set to put pen to paper on a two-year extension and if true, it’s such an enormous boost.

That’s because with Harry Kane’s future quite uncertain, Son has never been more important for chairman Daniel Levy.

The Lilywhites have scored 56 Premier League goals this season and 44 of them were either scored or set up by Son or Kane, which illustrates the former Bayer Leverkusen’s importance.

If Kane does leave – and it wouldn’t be a huge shock, particularly if they fail to qualify for the Champions League – then Son will undoubtedly become Tottenham’s biggest star.

And therefore Mourinho’s replacement will have somebody to build a team around.

But if Kane leaves, it wouldn’t have been a huge surprise if Son wanted to follow, though it looks like he’s staying and the significance of it can’t be overstated.
