Tottenham are now interested in Carlos Alcaraz as they prepare to battle Arsenal for the Racing Club teenager’s signature this summer.

We know all about the Tottenham and Arsenal rivalry but it is really ramping up in the final weeks of the season.

The two North London clubs are fighting for Champions League football and Tottenham just beat Arsenal 3-0 on Thursday.

Tottenham need to keep winning and hope that Arsenal slip up, but we could end up seeing a transfer battle between the two clubs this summer.

Seeing Tottenham and Arsenal linked with the same players is nothing new.

Even just last summer, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Emerson Royal were linked with both clubs. Tomiyasu joined Arsenal and Emerson ended up at Tottenham.

Now, it’s Racing teenager Alcaraz on the radar of both clubs.

Tottenham are now interested in Carlos Alcaraz

The Sunday Mirror (15/05, p73) report that Tottenham have been scouting Alcaraz ahead of a potential deal.

It’s stated that Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven all want to sign Alcaraz.

However, the 19-year-old teenager instead prefers a move to the Premier League this summer.

Tottenham and Arsenal have both been looking into signing Alcaraz but have been informed that negotiations won’t be possible until June.

Alcaraz is allegedly valued at around £20million, meaning the North London club will have to cough up a decent fee for a 19-year-old talent.

Alcaraz, primarily a central midfielder, has bagged five goals in 18 first-team games for Racing this season whilst also adding two assists.

Hailed as ‘outstanding’ by former Racing boss Sebastian Beccacece, it looks like Alcaraz has a huge future ahead of him.

Arsenal and Tottenham do both have young midfielders waiting for opportunities though having signed Albert Sambi Lokonga and Pape Matar Sarr respectively last summer.

Lokonga has featured occasionally but Sarr has been back on loan at Metz this summer.

Paying £20million for another young midfielder would be a bold step from Arsenal or Tottenham, but maybe they just rate Alcaraz that highly.
