Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of signing Radu Dragusin, making a huge statement to the world having beaten Bayern Munich to his services.
Tottenham knew what they had to do in the January transfer window; they simply had to bring in at least one new centre back.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were forming an excellent partnership earlier in the season, but both have been out injured of late.
Spurs have a real lack of natural centre back depth behind Romero and Van de Ven, so adding another option was absolutely vital.
Sure, Tottenham signed another forward first with Timo Werner arriving from RB Leipzig, but Tottenham are now set to land their new centre back…
Tottenham Hotspur make big statement with Radu Dragusin deal
HITC Football understands that Genoa defender Radu Dragusin was in London for a medical on Wednesday ahead of signing for Tottenham.
The deal is expected to be worth around £26million plus Djed Spence on loan, with Tottenham winning a rather dramatic transfer race.
Bayern Munich made moves to hijack Tottenham’s deal for Dragusin, picking him out as the centre back they wanted to bolster their ranks.
Just months after Harry Kane decided that the best step for his career was to quit Tottenham for Bayern in search of trophies, Dragusin was left to pick between the two clubs.
Tottenham fans were probably fearing the worst; Bayern are one of the biggest clubs around and are perennial challengers for the Bundesliga and Champions League.

Spurs have famously struggled for trophies in recent years, so Dragusin’s decision will have taken Tottenham fans back to August and ultimately fearing Draguson matching Kane’s call.
Instead, Dragusin has decided to join Tottenham.
The Romanian centre back is on the verge of completing his move and should be presented as a Tottenham player today.
This is an enormous statement from Tottenham, beating a European giant to the signing of a top young talent when he had another offer on the table.
It’s not even as if Dragusin is picking Tottenham because he is nailed on to play every week; he still has to break into the team beyond Romero and Van de Ven, which is no easy task.
Dragusin may well have had a Premier League dream, but he wouldn’t have just signed for anybody; he clearly believes in this Spurs project and the ideas of boss Ange Postecoglou.
This is a hugely exciting more for Tottenham and it’s time clubs both in England and in Europe sat up and paid attention what Postecoglou is building in North London.
