Antonio Conte reacts to Richarlison’s debut for Tottenham Hotspur

Antonio Conte has hailed Richarlison after his debut for Tottenham Hotspur in the 6-3 win over the K-League All-Stars earlier today.

Tottenham played the first game of their trip to South Korea earlier today, taking on the best of the K-League in Seoul.

It turned out to be an absolute goal-fest.

Eric Dier put Spurs in front before Tottenham were pegged back on the stroke of half time.

An owl goal in Tottenham’s favour was cancelled out before Harry Kane and Son Heung-min made it 4-2.

The K-League All Stars grabbed another goal back before Kane and Son added another one each.

A 6-3 win was probably a little more action-packed than many expected, but it’s a win to get Tottenham’s pre-season moving.

Tottenham couldn’t call on four of their new signings with Fraser Forster, Clement Lenglet, Yves Bissouma and Ivan Perisic all missing out for various reasons.

That meant Richarlison was the only new signing on show for Tottenham fans today.

The Brazilian led the Tottenham attack in the first half before moving out wide to accommodate Harry Kane up top.

Richarlison, snapped up from Everton earlier this month, showed great movement and looks set to be a fine addition to this Tottenham attack.

Tottenham boss Conte was certainly impressed as he heaped praise on Richarlison after the final whistle in Seoul.

Speaking to Football London, Conte suggested that he saw ‘a lot of positive things’ in Richarlison’s performance today.

Conte praised Richarlison’s adaptability as he played in a number of different positions in just one outing.

Conte did note that he is still working on getting Richarlison up to speed with Tottenham’s tactical approach, but the Italian is ‘very happy’ that Richarlison is a Spurs player.

“Today I have seen a lot of positive things about Richy,” said Conte. “In the first half he played as a number nine and in the second half he played on the right and in behind the striker. He can play in all three positions. He’s a good character and has good quality.”

“We are working on the tactical aspect with him because he has to go into our idea and also the physical aspect because he has to be fit. He is a player who gives me important options. I’m very happy that we signed him,” he added.
