Southampton pulled off a stunning win on Sunday night, as they beat Manchester City 1-0 at St Mary’s Stadium.

The Saints have been disappointing at home this season, but managed to keep Pep Guardiola’s side at bay with a resilient display.

The winning goal came in the first half, as Oleksandr Zinchenko lost possession in his own half, with Che Adams chipping Ederson from long-range.

That was Adams’ first league goal for the Saints, and it was enough to claim all three points as City just couldn’t break down Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men.

Southampton defended brilliantly throughout, and a key part of that rearguard action was full back Kyle Walker-Peters.

The Tottenham loanee started the game, and turned in a fine display against Raheem Sterling as he proved his ability to play regularly in the Premier League.

Spurs fans took to Twitter to react to his display, suggesting that it’s ridiculous that Walker-Peters is out on loan whilst Serge Aurier is starting without any competition.

Southampton fans also hailed Walker-Peters, and suggested that the club should happily offer Spurs target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Tottenham in a swap deal for the right back.
