Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur and Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United have been linked with David Lopez of Espanyol in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking the clubs with moves for Espanyol defender David Lopez.
According to PericosOnline, Premier League duo Tottenham and Newcastle are interested in signing the 28-year-old in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that the Lopez has a release clause of €40 million (£35.04m).
Lopez is in his second spell at Espanyol, having returned to the Spanish club in 2016.
The former Napoli man is a versatile footballer who can operate as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder.
Tottenham finished in the top four of the Premier League this season and will play in the Champions League during the 2018-19 campaign.
While Lopez would have a better chance of playing regularly for Newcastle than he would for Tottenham, perhaps the chance of playing for a top club in the Premier League and competition in the Champions League could be tempting for him.
