Luis Sinisterra opened his account for Leeds with a glorious strike from 25 yards out as the Whites saw off Barnsley – prompting reaction from Tottenham’s Davinson Sanchez, and new Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia.

Sinisterra, 23, joined Leeds from Feyenoord in the summer for a fee in the region of £26million. He was seen as a direct replacement for Raphinha. But he has made a slow start, after picking up a hamstring injury in pre-season.

The Colombian broke down against Crystal Palace in Australia. While it has been a quick recovery, he has only made substitute appearances against Southampton and Chelsea. He got his first start for Jesse Marsch on Wednesday night.

But he was wonderful – involved in all three goals for Leeds. The first, curling an audacious effort into the corner from so far out. The second, he drove into the box from inside his own half to win a penalty – Mateusz Klich scoring.

Then, his side’s final goal saw Joe Gelhardt win the ball back and pass to Sinisterra. Darting towards the byline, his pull back found Klich who curled home a third. A stunning display, and Sinisterra sent a message to fans on Instagram.

Sinisterra reaction: Tottenham’s Sanchez and Malacia react to Leeds star

Barnsley at Elland Road was the perfect game for Sinisterra to get a start. To instantly build his confidence and show Leeds fans what he is capable of doing. He duly obliged, a wonderful goal from 25 yards and basically, two assists.

Not only has he got goals, but he seems as if he will create plenty, too. While Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips played in a strange friendly between Barcelona and Manchester City – Leeds are shining thanks to some brilliant signings.

Using the money for Raphinha and Phillips, Leeds look much-better balanced. A side with more depth, more talent, more everything. Sinisterra earned praise from Colombia teammate Sanchez, and ex-Feyenoord colleague Malacia.

Sanchez’s comment is translated as : “Top action (or gesture)”, while Malacia comments: “My son”. Leeds stars Sam Greenwood, Liam Cooper and Joel Robles were also full of praise for their summer signing.
