Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United were two of the many clubs credited with an interest in the new Fulham signing.
The former Hartlepool United defender, Luca Murphy, has joined Fulham on a two-year contract – despite links to Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United.
Tottenham and Leeds were two of the many clubs credited with an interest in Murphy after the 17-year-old’s departure from Hartlepool last week (Teamtalk).
But speaking via Fulham’s official website on Friday, Murphy said there was just one that stood out.
“Over the past couple of weeks lots of clubs have been in contact with us but once Fulham made it clear that they wanted to sign me it was an easy decision to come here,” he explained.
“The facilities are brilliant, the coaching staff are top class, and there is a pathway for young players to progress into the First Team.
“You only need to look at Ryan Sessegnon and what he’s achieved at such a young age. He is somebody that I look up to massively.

“I want to work hard here and show everybody what I can do. I can’t wait to get started.”
Murphy is previously said to have trialled with Fulham, who look set to desert Tottenham in the Premier League next season.
The ball-playing centre-back joined Hartlepool just before his ninth birthday but failed to make a competitive senior appearance.

He was one of several of the club’s academy players said to be on the radar of higher-division clubs, along with Josh Hawkes and Conner Rennison – both of whom have been linked with Leeds.
The Whites recently acquired another north-east native, Morten Spencer, from Sunderland.
