The winger has yet again been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Some football clubs are linked with the same players year after year, even when those links become tedious and, in some cases, downright ludicrous.
It seems the rumour mill does like a little familiarity now and then, and when it comes to Tottenham Hotspur, the player they cannot seem to get away from is Nicolas Gaitan.
When the Argentine wide man was on the books at Benfica, he was regularly linked with a move to White Hart Lane, with the Daily Express claiming Tottenham wanted him back in 2014 and the Independent suggesting a move was in the offing a year later.

Time and again, despite the persistent rumours, Gaitan remained in Portugal, and when he did finally leave for pastures new it was to join La Liga club Atletico Madrid.
But now, just when you thought the speculation had finally died a death, the Mirror claims Tottenham are interested in signing Gaitan on loan this month.
With the 28-year-old struggling for game time in Spain, he is said to be open to a loan move with his countryman Mauricio Pochettino keen on bringing him in to add to his attacking options.

But just like every other time Spurs have been linked with the player, surely this is mere paper talk.
Gaitan is far from the all-conquering winger the rumour mill would have us believe and at this stage of his career he is a gamble – even a short-term one – not worth taking.
Some rumours are destined to be nothing more than that, and when it comes to Tottenham and Gaitan, they are only a perfect match in print not on the pitch.
