Tottenham and Everton target Thiago Silva reportedly agrees Fiorentina move

According to the Corriere dello Sport, reported Tottenham Hotspur and Everton target Thiago Silva has agreed to join Italian side Fiorentina after the Champions League final.

The Brazilian defender is out of contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

With PSG facing Bayern Munich in Lisbon this weekend, the Champions League final showdown will be Silva’s final game for the French club before moving on.

The Sun claimed last month that Tottenham were keen to sign him ahead of Everton in June.

But it now looks like the Premier League duo are set to miss out on his signature.

A report by the Corriere dello Sport claims Silva has agreed to join fellow veteran Franck Ribery at Fiorentina in a deal worth around £3.5 million a year plus bonuses.

The Italian editorial also adds that the defender has been secretly house hunting in Florence for the past few months in preparation for a summer move.

Spurs and Everton look for a new central defender:

Tottenham will be on the lookout for a new central defender this summer.

Spurs saw Jan Vertonghen leave after his contract expiry. Toby Alderweireld, meanwhile, is in his 30s while Davinson Sanchez struggled with consistency last term.

Everton, on the other hand, must look at strengthening at the back after conceding 56 Premier League goals last season.

Carlo Ancelotti has managed Silva before during his spell as PSG boss. The 35-year-old is hugely experienced, having played at the top level for such a long time.

But both clubs should instead focus on younger players with room to grow.

With finances tight, spending huge wages to bring Silva to the Premier League for a season or two isn’t likely going to make a huge difference with a long-term goal in mind.
