The Liverpool forward has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and he is right up their street.
According to the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur may be attracted to the prospect of signing Liverpool player Divock Origi with the Reds considering a summer sale, and the Belgian international would be the perfect long-term investment for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
The young forward arrived at Anfield with a big reputation after impressing for French side Lille and being called up by Belgium when he was just a teenager.
Since then, however, he has struggled to live up to the hype and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp rarely uses him when it really matters.
Now 22, and with his next destination potentially defining his career, Origi should be right up Tottenham’s street if he is made available in what remains of the summer transfer window.
Spurs need additional fire-power as they continue to be over reliant on Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, but their chairman Daniel Levy is refusing to get drawn into the huge bidding required to sign not just the top names but also some rather average alternatives.
Origi could be the answer: A player who knows the Premier League, has a point to prove, possesses innate talent and has time to grow.
Tottenham have made a habit of signing top young talent, as well as giving chances to many of their academy prospects, and Origi could benefit from that approach.
The 22-year-old’s versatility means he could help in a number of areas for Tottenham, as he can operate alongside Kane, as an able alternative when the England international is unavailable or on either wing.
Origi may not be a regular starter but he has still managed 21 goals and seven assists in 77 appearances for Liverpool, and if the Reds deem him surplus to requirements, he could fulfil his huge potential at Tottenham.
