Michael Dawson has praised Tottenham transfer target, Christian Eriksen, as an ‘exceptional’ player, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (23/04/22 at 12:40 pm).

The Tottenham ambassador added that ‘everything is relaxed’ about Eriksen, both on and off the field of play.

Eriksen is currently donning Brentford colours after joining the newly-promoted side during the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old has been outstanding for the Bees during that time – starting six games, winning five and drawing against Spurs on Saturday.

It was an emotional reunion for Eriksen with his former club yesterday, as Dawson, who played with him in north London, spoke highly about his qualities and his character.

“He was never going to lose his delivery,” said Dawson. “His ball-striking is exceptional.

“What he has been through and now he is back. It took him time. No surprise, since he has come into the team, the way he moves the ball.

“Ivan Toney and Mbeumo. They won’t believe their luck to play with a calibre of player like him.

“His demeanour in his interview is just how he is as a player and a person – calm. Everything is relaxed. Nothing is too up and nothing is too down.

“When he signed for Spurs in 2013, I was there and I played a year with him. He never changed. Pretty quiet. Always practising his free-kicks and delivery after training. Was he ever going to lose that? No. We are seeing an exceptional player. What a person and a player.”

For Eriksen, after his health scare at Euro 2020, it was just a case of being cleared by doctors to play again and then regaining that fitness.

Slowly but surely, the Serie A title winner with Antonio Conte, is starting to do that and showcase the magic he used to display in Tottenham colours many years go.

That’s probably the reason why Conte is keen to bring him back to the club in the summer, with iNews suggesting that Spurs are showing more interest in that regard.

To put it simply, ever since Eriksen departed Hotspur Way, they haven’t been able to replace the Denmark international, so it’s probably fitting if he reclaimed his own seat again.
