Liverpool fans may be focused on the possibility of signing Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago, but the club have seemingly made a new signing.

Whilst the Reds could move for Thiago in a big deal, they are also taking a look to the future with their deal for goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek.

Agent Jakub Schlage from the SSM Football agency took to Twitter on Monday to confirm that FC Wroclaw youngster Mrozek has finalised his move to Anfield.

Mrozek was on trial with Liverpool earlier this season, and having now turned 16, he has been able to officially pen his deal with the Reds.

Mrozek joins fellow Polish stoppers Kamil Grabara and Jakub Ojrzynski at Liverpool, but it all could have been very different for the teenager.

Wroclaw academy co-ordinator Milosz Gladoch has told Futbol.pl that Tottenham Hotspur were in negotiations to sign Mrozek, but they missed out.

“We held talks with Inter Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica and Tottenham,” said Gladoch, claiming that Liverpool have beaten them all to signing Mrozek.

At 16, we’re unlikely to see Mrozek in the Liverpool first-team picture for some time yet, but with so many huge clubs interested in his signature, this appears to be something of a coup.

It may be a little frustrating for Tottenham as they look to build for the future too, and they will have to go back to the drawing board if they want to land a young goalkeeper.
