According to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, Tottenham Hotspur have already contacted the representatives of Alex Meret to wrap up a deal for him in the summer.
It was reported just a week ago that the Napoli goalkeeper was ‘desired’ by Antonio Conte’s men as a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.
Now, a fresh update suggests that Spurs have already taken a big step to secure his services in 2023.
Tottenham have contacted Alex Meret representatives
Journalist Ciro Venerato has said on Station Radio 1, as relayed by Tutto Napoli that Tottenham have already got in touch with the representatives of Alex Meret to ensure a deal is completed before the start of next season.
“[Alex] Meret’s future? There is no news. Meeting with the agent, Pastorello, at the end of the season, so we will understand if there will be a need to renew or go elsewhere. Tottenham are interested in the boy, a club that has also contacted the boy’s entourage in this market.”

Clearly, Tottenham believe Alex Meret, valued at £23 million by Football Transfers would be the idea successor to Hugo Lloris’ throne, as the club have been proactive enough to contact his representatives, knowing that his contract expires in 2024.
Spurs must get the Alex Meret deal over the line
It really is that simple.
For the past couple of years, Lloris has been unjustifiably error-prone and what’s even worse is that he has perhaps been at his lowest point this season. In addition, the club captain is uncomfortable with the ball at his feet, which makes him an extremely outdated goalkeeper in today’s game.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Alex Meret has been hugely important to Napoli’s rise in every way, which is why Tottenham have already got in touch with the Italian’s representatives.
One of the Lilywhites’ biggest transfer priorities must to be ensure the 25-year-old, described as ‘exciting’ to watch by Gianluigi Buffon (via All Football App) plays at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.
