Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn is in demand amid claims that both Ajax and Everton want to sign him this summer.
Tottenham pounced to sign Bergwijn in January 2020 as they looked to add versatile attacking competition.
Costing £25million from PSV Eindhoven, Bergwijn came with a decent reputation from the Netherlands.
Jose Mourinho did though admit that he wasn’t fussed about Bergwijn before then praising Tottenham for signing him anyway.
After a red-hot start against Manchester City, Bergwijn hasn’t really been able to nail down a regular first-team role at Tottenham.
Bergwijn struggled for playing time last season, making just four Premier League starts.
Bergwijn did though produce a stunning display against Leicester City to score two late goals – a result that proved vital as Tottenham clinched a top-four finish by a narrow margin.
Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn is in demand
It now seems very likely that Bergwijn will be moving on this summer.
The 24-year-old wants to play at the World Cup with the Netherlands later this year and can’t really afford to be sitting on the bench.
Tottenham surely won’t stand in Bergwijn’s way and there is plenty of interest.
Ajax’s interest has been long-standing and the Daily Mail claim that a £17million bid has already been rejected.
That report also adds that Everton are interested in signing Bergwijn as they look to rebuild under Frank Lampard.

Bergwijn has now been speaking about his future, telling De Telegraph in the Netherlands that there is interest from plenty of teams.
“Several clubs have come forward,” said Bergwijn whilst speaking at Netherlands training in Zeist.
The belief in the Netherlands is that Ajax are still favourites have been ‘excelling in indecision’ in recent days.
That delay may just allow other clubs to sneak in, with Everton and others potentially eyeing up a move to hijack the Amsterdam giants.
Tottenham need to clear non-homegrown fringe players out of their squad and we would expect Bergwijn to be gone very soon.
