Tottenham Hotspur now actually appear to have more hope of signing Porto winger Luis Diaz than Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Adama Traore.

That’s according to Football London’s Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold, who was speaking on YouTube on Wednesday night.

Tottenham have been chasing Traore for some time, even back to last summer under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Now inside the final 18 months of his Wolves contract, Traore looks set to leave Molineux at some point in the future.

Give Me Sport claimed earlier this week that Tottenham had agreed terms on a £120,000-a-week contract with Traore set to complete a move to North London.

However, the move seems to have gone cold because Tottenham are now focusing on Porto ace Luis Diaz.

Just how that works is beyond us; Traore was being seen as a right wing back in Antonio Conte’s setup, somewhat similar to Victor Moses at Chelsea.

Diaz is an out-and-out left-sided winger, cutting in on his right foot with devastating effect – just like Son Heung-min.

Where Diaz fits into this Tottenham side is unclear, but he has been enjoying a superb season with 16 goals and six assists to his name.

Tottenham made a first bid for the Colombian on Tuesday, but their £37.6million offer was rejected.

Tottenham may return with a new Diaz offer, but he has a £66million release clause in his deal – a fee Spurs may struggle to match.

Still, Gold claims that Tottenham are ‘absolutely throwing everything at it’ in an attempt to get Diaz on board.

Gold even understands there is now more hope of signing Diaz than Traore, with Tottenham potentially set to make an unexpected transfer pivot in the final days of the window.

“The latest that I understand on the situation is that there is a growing hope that they might be able to get this deal done,” said Gold. “They’re absolutely throwing everything at it, that’s their priority right now, this transfer.”

“I understand – at the moment, I must stress at the moment because of the way everything works in the transfer window and other clubs coming in – but at the moment, Spurs are kind of more hopeful of this one happening than the Adama Traore one,” he added.
