Should Tottenham Hotspur’s Vincent Janssen take a relaxed approach to his future at the club?

Vincent Janssen missed Holland’s international fixture at the weekend due to illness, and the end result will have horrified him.
Holland lost 2-0 to Bulgaria and now sit fourth in their group behind France, Sweden and their weekend opponents, and face missing out on an international tournament for the second successive time.
Missing out on the 2018 World Cup will be crushing for Holland, but it could provide calmness for Vincent Janssen in relation to his Tottenham ambitions.
Providing he survives a summer cull and is kept on by Mauricio Pochettino, he will not have to start getting agitated by his time spent on the bench as a back-up to Harry Kane, with no World Cup place to zero in on.

Should it get to December, and Janssen has started say five to 10 games and grabbed a handful of goals only, in a World Cup year he might be pretty concerned, that he could fall out of favour and miss out on a tournament place altogether.
This could accelerate his desire to quit the club and call time on his Tottenham adventure, rather than sticking at it for the long haul.
No 2018 World Cup for Janssen means he can take a more relaxed mindset about his Tottenham status, and focus on eventually finding his role and justifying his price tag.
Janssen showed at AZ Alkmaar that he knows where the goal is, and his finish against Millwall was well taken.
He is only 22 and has far more to offer than he is shown, and could still benefit from his impending international disappointment if Holland cannot turn their fortunes around.
Could he quit the club? Based on a lack of playing time, the answer is yes, but does he need to? The answer is edging towards ‘no’.
