The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has experienced horrendous luck with injuries this season.

Tottenham star Victor Wanyama spoke exclusively to the club’s official website having just returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury, and admitted that he wants to put his ‘worst ever season’ behind him as soon as possible.

The 27-year-old signed for Spurs from Southampton in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £11 million, and he has gone on to make 79 appearances in all competitions for the north London outfit.

Before Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace, Wanyama had not played for Tottenham since November 10th, and with Mousa Dembele no longer at the club, his return could not have come at a better time for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Kenyan spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and explained why the past year or so has been so difficult for him personally:

“It’s been very tough for me and I just want to try to forget about what has happened because it’s been one of the worst…well…two seasons for me. I had an injury, tried to come back, then another injury. It’s so annoying. It has been the hardest time of my career to be honest. It’s a difficult moment and you are just burning inside to come back stronger. The only thing I could do is work extra hard and make sure I’m doing all the right things.”

Tottenham have some vitally important games coming up over the next month or so, and Wanyama will surely have a key role to play for his side.

There was talk late last year that he could leave Spurs, according to the Sun, but Pochettino would surely be mad to sell the Kenyan now, considering how many important players he currently has out inured and unavailable for selection.
