Tottenham ace Toby Alderweireld spoke to reporters after his side’s disappointing defeat to Burnley on Saturday, and issued a passionate rallying cry to his teammates, ahead of what is a vitally important week for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, as quoted by the club’s official website.

Spurs now sit six points adrift of league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table, and five behind second placed Manchester City, with only 11 games remaining this season.

Tottenham have impressed on the whole this season, but they do seem to have a bad habit of losing important games when the pressure is really on them.

The north London outfit face three pivotal games over the course of the next week – a trip to Chelsea tomorrow night, followed by a home game against Arsenal on Saturday and their Champions League last 16 second-leg tie with Borussia Dortmund a week today.

Alderweireld spoke to reporters, and insisted that he and his teammates are ready for a week that could end up defining their season, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“We have to pick ourselves up now. Of course, there is disappointment, but I think the team has shown over the last couple of years that we bounce back from disappointing results. We have three big games ahead, we will look forward to them and we will be ready.”

Tottenham will really have to show some mental fortitude against both of their London rivals this week, if they are to fire themselves back into the title race.

And nothing less than six points from those two outings will do, if they are to quickly banish the memory of Saturday’s defeat to Burnley.
