Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko is pleased to have stayed put.

Sissoko endured a disappointing first season at Spurs after signing from Newcastle United but has begun to bounce back, and scored his first goal for the club this weekend.
He has been recalled by Didier Deschamps to the France international squad after missing the early September matches and has been reflecting on the past few months.

Speaking to Footmercato, Sissoko said: “I doubted at one point. Everyone knows I had a tough season last year. I did not want to relive the same season.
“This season, we thought it was going to be different, we had to work even more. I had the chance this year to have a pre-season, which was not the case with the previous one. I arrived on the last day of the market.
“As a competitor when we go to another club we want to succeed, we want to play a lot of matches. This has not been the case for me because I am still here today. I’m glad I made the choice to stay in Tottenham.”

Sissoko has earned the trust of head coach Mauricio Pochettino and has played a more regular role this season, featuring in every one of their Premier League matches.
This could reduce when Victor Wanyama recovers from injury, but Sissoko has done more than enough to show he should not be discarded.
Sissoko is hoping this week to solidify his place in France’s World Cup squad. He is favourite of Didier Deschamps, whose only previous concern was that he was not playing regularly for his club, an worry which appears to have for now been answered.
