Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier is currently planning to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Eric Dier is looking to leave Tottenham Hotspur when his contract expires in June, possibly ruling out a Fulham swap deal this month.

That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Tottenham are keen to move Dier out of the club this summer.

The transfer deadline is next Friday so Tottenham are running out of time to make that happen.

Dier isn’t so keen though and is actually planning to leave Tottenham on a free transfer this summer.

The 29-year-old fancies heading abroad and could simply see out the final stages of his contract in order to leave for nothing.

Tottenham did hold talks over a new deal for Dier earlier this summer but no agreement was reached.

That means Dier can leave for free at the end of the season and that currently seems like his plan.

Eric Dier stance could ruin Tottenham Hotspur swap deal

The report notes that Fulham have been interested in Dier all summer but his stance could now scupper their plans.

RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins reported just a couple of days ago that Fulham boss Marco Silva wants to swap Dier for Tosin Adarabioyo.

Tottenham have been targeting Adarabioyo for much of the summer but he is understood to prefer a move to Monaco.

That swap move would certainly suit Tottenham; offloading Dier before his contract expires and signing a defender much more suited to Ange Postecoglou’s style seems perfect.

Dier isn’t targeting a move away this summer though and that swap deal could be in tatters.

The only real hope for Spurs is that Silva – who very briefly coached Dier at Sporting in Portugal – can tempt him into a reunion.

That can’t be ruled out but with Adarabioyo seemingly not 100% sold on Tottenham, this exchange seems unlikely as things stand.
