Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Liverpool 4-1 earlier this season.

Spurs ace Jan Vertonghen sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, and highlighted his side’s performance at home to Liverpool this season as one that he and his teammates need to aspire to on a regular basis, if they are to challenge for major honours.
Tottenham are currently in the midst of a real sticky patch, having taken just two points from their last four Premier League outings, and they sit 15 points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side, having played a game more than the Citizens.
The Lilywhites must put their poor run of form behind them as soon as possible, otherwise they will be in genuine danger of missing out on the top four this season, and Vertonghen highlighted a performance where his side reached the pinnacle, and one that they should be looking to emulate week-in, week-out.

“That was the standard we had a White Hart Lane last year and we want that standard at Wembley. That (Liverpool at home) was a good game to refer to, it was a very good performance, just like the Madrid one. And we want to show that every week.”
Next up for Mauricio Pochettino’s men is a home game against APOEL in the Champions League on Wednesday night , and the Argentine will surely ring the changes, as he looks to inject some vigour and energy back into his side.
