Tottenham Hotspur claimed an impressive 4-0 win over Watford at White Hart Lane.

Kieran Trippier has joked that Tottenham’s win over Watford has probably strained his relationship with his neighbour, due to the fact that it is current Hornets goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, the Daily Mail reports.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men temporarily put some pressure on current Premier League leaders Chelsea with an emphatic 4-0 win over Walter Mazzarri’s side at White Hart Lane to go with the 4-1 victory over the same opposition at Vicarage Road back on New Year’s Day.

And after starring in the latest victory, Trippier jokingly suggested that former Spurs stopper Gomes may not respond too well the next time he needs to pop over for something.

“We are neighbours so I asked him if I could have his shirt,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mail. “I get on really well with him and we chat a lot.

“He’s a top guy. But I think the next time I knock to ask if I can borrow a cup of milk he might slam the door in my face.”

As well as the win, the 26-year-old will undoubtedly be delighted with his display in the victory over Watford as he made it abundantly clear to Pochettino that Kyle Walker cannot afford to become complacent if he hopes to hold onto his place at right-back.

Trippier contributed an assist – to go along with the two he produced in the previous fixture back in January – and has arguably done enough to earn the right to not be considered an understudy for Walker, but rather a genuine rival.
