The Tottenham Hotspur full-back has struggled to replicate last season’s form.

Tottenham ace Kieran Trippier spoke exclusively to Sky Sports yesterday, and admitted that he quite simply hasn’t been good enough this season, suggesting that he has been trying things that he really shouldn’t.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a fine 2017/18 campaign with both Spurs and England, and he was widely considered to be one of the best right full-backs in the Premier League.

His form has nosedived this season, however, and he is far from a guaranteed starter for either Tottenham or the Three Lions now.

Trippier has made numerous high-profile errors for the north London outfit this term, and many Spurs fans have been critical of the former Burnley man.

The 28-year-old spoke exclusively to Sky Sports, and admitted that he has been nowhere near good enough this season:

Kieran Trippier of Spurs goes off injued during the pre-season match between Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus at Wembley Stadium on August 5, 2017 in London, England.

“I could have done a lot better than what I have done, I am the first to admit that. I was trying things that I shouldn’t do, taking risks, I have been at fault for a few goals this season and made a few errors. I look back and think to myself during games ‘what are you doing? why do that?’.”

Tottenham have a vitally important six weeks ahead of them, and with Serge Aurier currently out injured, Mauricio Pochettino has little choice but to play Trippier.

And the England international will be desperate to show his manager that he still has what it takes to play at the very highest level.
