Tottenham Hotspur play host to Borussia Dortmund in Champions League tomorrow night.
Tottenham ace Jan Vertonghen spoke to reporters ahead of his side’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund tomorrow, and suggested that Wembley Stadium will be rocking for the visit of the Germans, as quoted by the Mirror.
Spurs have been in excellent form recently, and they currently sit in third spot in the Premier League table, just five points adrift of league leaders Manchester City and second placed Liverpool, so they are right in the mix in the race for the title.
Dortmund, meanwhile, are in a good place too. Lucien Favre’s team currently sit at the top of the Bundesliga table, five points clear of second placed Bayern Munich, so Tottenham will have their work cut-out if they are to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.
Spurs will have home advantage, however, and Vertonghen highlighted how the Wembley crowd can play a huge role tomorrow, as quoted by the Mirror:
“It definitely helps when the stadium is full and rocking. I bet we will see that tomorrow. It’s a great fixture for everyone in football and that’s why we all became football players for. We want to play these games at Wembley, one of the best stadiums in the world and if we can get one of the best crowds in the world then it will definitely help us to get a result there.”
Tottenham will obviously be keen to take an advantage into the second leg of the tie, considering how much of a hard place Dortmund’s stadium is to play in.
Spurs are more than capable of picking up a positive result, however, and they should have both Harry Kane and Dele Alli back and available for the second leg next month, so as long as they are still in the tie after tomorrow night, they will have very chance of reaching the next stage of the competition.
