The Tottenham Hotspur ace experienced a tough time during trials with Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth.

Spurs ace Heung-Min Son sat down for an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, and opened up on how tough it has been for him to climb the ladder in the game, having had trials at both Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers nine years ago.
The South Korea international joined Tottenham from Bayern Leverkusen in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £18 million, and he has really risen to prominence this season, after initially struggling to adapt to the high-octane nature of the Premier League.

He has been in superb form for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, chipping in with 11 goals and eight assists in 38 outings in all competitions thus far.
Things haven’t always been such plain-sailing for the 25-year-old, though.
Son spoke exclusively to the Daily Mail, and opened up on the challenges that he faced during trials with Blackburn and Portsmouth:

“I had no friends there, no family with me and I couldn’t speak the language. I didn’t know a single word. I was on my own and I was scared, you know. It was tough. I had a trial at Portsmouth and one at Blackburn, too. ‘They put me in a guest house. But I was a kid and I didn’t know anything. So that is my first memory of England and it is a bad one.”
Tottenham are still competing on three fronts this season, and Son will be hoping that he can help his side win a major trophy by continuing his fine form.
