The Tottenham Hotspur youngster returned to first-team action last night.
Spurs ace Harry Winks spoke exclusively to the club’s official website in the aftermath of his side’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Newport County yesterday, and expressed his delight at being back involved with the first-team setup, having been absent from action since Boxing Day.
The 22-year-old returned to action last night, after missing around six weeks with an ankle issue, and the fact that he completed 90 minutes must be a great confidence boost for him, as his side head into the final third of their campaign.
Winks has made 59 appearances for Tottenham, since bursting onto the scene last season, and he has impressed with the manner in which he goes about his business.
Before he got injured two months ago, he had established himself as a regular first-team starter for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and with the likes of Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama currently at the club, that is no small feat.
The midfield ace spoke to the club’s official website, and admitted that the last few weeks have been really tough for him:
“It was good to be back out there, get some game time and just work my way back into the team because it’s been a tough few weeks being out injured, so it was good to get out there and get 90 minutes again.”
Next up for Spurs is their huge clash with Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday, and whether Winks will be ready for the intensity of that game remains to be seen.
