The Tottenham Hotspur striker admits that the decision to start him against Liverpool didn’t work out.

Harry Kane spoke to the media in Singapore today, and responded when asked whether Mauricio Pochetitno’s decision to start him in the Champions League final last month backfired.
The 25-year-old Spurs ace is arguably the world’s best out-and-out striker, but he had missed around 5-6 weeks of action leading up to the final against Liverpool.
In truth, Tottenham just didn’t show up in Madrid, and Kane wasn’t the only player who failed to perform.
There were many Spurs fans who were shocked to see Lucas Moura left on the bench, however, especially after the Brazilian’s heroics in the semi-final against Ajax.
And Kane responded to reporters today, when asked whether Pochettino made the wrong call by starting him ahead of the South American in the Champions League final, as quoted by Football.London:

“That’s football. That’s the game we play. The gaffer made the decision. Obviously it didn’t work out in our favour.”
Perhaps in hindsight, Pochettino should have started Lucas Moura, and brought Kane on with half an hour or so remaining.
The Argentine will learn from his mistakes, however, and who knows, the experience might actually serve Tottenham well this season.
Spurs are expected to make a genuine push for major honours this term, and after the signing of Tanguy Ndombele, along with other potential additions, they will undoubtedly be a real threat.
