The Tottenham Hotspur star has just two months remaining on his current contract.
Tottenham hitman Fernando Llorente spoke exclusively to Sky Sports about his future at the club, and admitted that he would like to stay in north London for another year.
The Spaniard joined Spurs from Swansea City in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth £15 million, according to BBC Sport, but he has failed to have much of an impact at the club, scoring just 13 goals in all competitions thus far.
Llorente, 34, has predominantly served as Harry Kane’s deputy, but he has played more of an importune role for Tottenham since the England international injured his ankle last month.
The former Juventus and Athletic Bilbao ace, who earns £75,000 per week according to Spotrac, is out of contract in the summer, and it is unclear as to whether Spurs will offer him a new deal at the end off the season.
Llorente told Sky Sports that he would like to remain at Tottenham for another season, however:
“I would love to stay for another year, but the truth is I am not thinking much about that right now. I believe the important thing at the moment is the team, not for individual players to think about themselves.”
Llorente’s chance of earning a new deal with Tottenham will depend heavily on how he performs between now and the end of the season, especially with Harry Kane out and unavailable for selection.
Spurs have some vitally important games coming up, and the Spaniard could earn himself a new contract by firing his side to glory both domestically and on the continent.
