The Tottenham Hotspur hitman is out of contract this summer.
Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente sat down for an exclusive reinterview with Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, and admitted that it is his dream to return to Spain.
The 34-year-old joined Spurs from Swansea City in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth £15 million according to BBC Sport, and he has gone on to rack up 13 goals and six assists in 65 appearances in all competitions for the north London outfit.
Llorente’s contract with Tottenham is set to expire this summer, and as things stand, it seems unlikely that he will be offered a new deal to lengthen his stay at the club.
The 24-capped Spain international, who earns £75,000 per week at Spurs according to Spotrac, told Mundo Deportivo that he will assess his options after the Champions League final:
“The truth is that I played many years in Spain and I was very happy, and it is clear that I would love to return someday. But we will see the options that come to me and from there I will try to decide what is best for me and my family.”
Llorente has been a decent servant for Tottenham, but there will probably not be too many Spurs fans who will be sad to see him leave the club.
The Spaniard could, of course, remain in north London if he is offered a new deal, but as things stand, that seems very unlikely.
