Tottenham star Erik Lamela spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and suggested that he is slowly returning to somewhere near his best levels from a physical perspective.

The Argentine was absent from action for 13 months from October 2016, and had to battle a succession of mysterious injuries before returning to the first-team fold in November of 2017.

Tottenham team manager Mauricio Pochettino whisphers to midfielder Erik Lamela during a press conference prior to a training session at AAMI Park in Melbourne on July 25, 2016.

The 26-year-old has gone on to make 24 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this season, and has really impressed considering the length of time that he spent away from the game, chalking up two goals and six assists since his return to action.

Lamela spoke exclusively to the club’s official website about his successful return to action, and admitted that has still not reached the peak of his physical powers:

“It’s good to win again and to reach the semi-finals. That’s what we wanted. We’re one step closer. My fitness is slowly coming back and the team plays so well. I’m enjoying my football.”

The Argentina international undoubtedly possesses real quality, and he can be such a useful asset for Tottenham, if he does indeed manage to put his injury problems firmly behind him.

Spurs are still in the FA Cup, and are in good position from which to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Lamela will surely have an important role to play for his team between now and the end of the season, and he has the opportunity to finally start justifying the £26 million that Tottenham paid Roma for his services back in 2013.
