Every top striker needs to have a selfish streak to their game, but Tottenham star Harry Kane appears to have the balance right.

In addition to his 17 Premier League goals for Spurs this season, Kane has four assists – just one less than Mesut Ozil does for Arsenal.

Speaking to Tottenham’s official website, Alli explained that he shared a joke with the striker at half-time at how his pass caught him by surprise.

He said: “We had a laugh at half-time because I thought he was going to shoot!” he said.

“He’s a great striker and if he’s not hitting the back of the net, he’s providing assists as well, all the credit to him for my goal as well.

“Harry is someone with a big of magic, someone who can score goals out of nothing.”

With Tottenham 4-0 up, it was no surprise the players were in good mood.

It was a very different half-time against Stoke than the previous one he experienced in the week against Gent, where he had been sent off after 38 minutes after a terrible tackle.

Alli explained: “I felt sorry and apologised to the team at half-time, as soon as it happened.”

While their exit was unsatisfactory, Tottenham can now put their European adventure for the season behind them and focus on domestic football.

It would be a big surprise if they fell out of the top four, and with a FA Cup quarter-final at home to Millwall in the next round, at least one more trip to Wembley beckons this season.
