With an impressive 3-2 win from a year ago still fresh in the memory, the Three Lions believed they could upset the hosts once again and controlled much of the opening hour of the game.

He was substituted off with 20 minutes to go, watching on as his side succumbed to defeat.
Alli sent a message out after the game expressing his sadness at the loss, but insisting there were positives which could be taken.
It was England’s first game back since Gareth Southgate was confirmed as permanent manager, and he chose to experiment by starting with three at the back.
The Three Lions also had to make do without star striker Harry Kane, and Danny Rose, another of Alli’s clubmates who missed the fixture through injury.
