Tottenham ace Danny Rose spoke to reporters ahead of his side’s Champions League final clash with Liverpool in Madrid on Saturday night, and admitted that he did not understand Mauricio Pochettino’s ambition and goals when the Argentine took over as Spurs boss way back in May 2014, as quoted by Reuters.

Pochettino guided Tottenham to a fifth place finish during his first season in charge, before leading them to four consecutive top four places.

Spurs have been totally transformed by the 47-year-old, and they are now considered to be genuine challengers for major honours both domestically and on the continent.

Tottenham have never won the Champions League, and should they go on to lift the trophy in Madrid, Poch will undoubtedly go down as a club legend, if he hasn’t already.

Ever since the Argentine took over in north London, he has gone about transforming Spurs into an elite side, and has always instilled in his players the message that they are capable of winning anything (Reuters).

Rose, though, suggested that he just did not understand his manager’s ambitious message when he took over at White Hart Lane five years ago, as quoted by Reuters:

“It wasn’t that I didn’t believe him, I just didn’t understand. Now I definitely understand. It shows that’s why he’s the manager and I’m the player.”

Tottenham are capable of beating Liverpool on Saturday, and if they do lift the Champions League trophy, the whole of Europe will have to stand up and take notice of Pochettino’s side.
