The Tottenham Hotspur ace faces an uncertain future in north London.

Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur is challenged by Christian Kabasele of Watford during the Premier League match between Watford FC and Tottenham Hotspur at Vicarage Road on September...

Tottenham star Christian Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots spoke exclusively to ESPN, and insisted that his client is only focused on playing football at the moment.

The 27-year-old joined Spurs from Ajax in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £12.5 million, and he has gone on to become a world-class player, racking up an impressive 63 goals and 81 assists in 259 appearances in all competitions.

Eriksen is widely considered to be one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most important players, but with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2020, he faces an uncertain future in north London.

The Denmark international has been heavily linked with a move away from Spurs, with Spanish media outlet AS claiming that Chelsea want to sign the former Ajax man.

Martin Schoots, Eriksen’s representative, spoke exclusively to ESPN, and suggested that signing a new deal is a long way from his client’s mind at the moment:

Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur on February 08, 2019 in Enfield, England.

“Christian only wants to focus himself on football. Besides his technical, tactical and athletic skills, also this attitude has contributed over the years to his impressive transformation from world class talent to world class player. At this moment I would prefer not to join the speculations about contracts and transfers.”

If Eriksen does fail to agree terms on a new deal, Tottenham will be wise to sell him this summer, rather than allow him to enter the final year of his contract, when his value will begin to plummet.

Spurs fans will be hoping that the Dane commits his future to the club, however, considering just how important he is to their side.
