Tottenham star Christian Eriksen’s Denmark are out of the World Cup.
In a battle between Tottenham star’s past and present, Christian Eriksen’s Denmark lost out to Luka Modric’s Croatia at the World Cup.
Eriksen missed a penalty in the shootout for Denmark and was clearly disappointed with the outcome.
He sent a message on Instagram after the game stating that the defeat would ‘hurt for a long time’.
Tipped as one of the stars of the World Cup before the tournament, Eriksen started off well.
He provided an assist and scored a goal in his first two games, before a 0-0 draw with France sealed qualification to the last 16.
Last night’s match with Croatia was there for the taking, with the two teams drawing 1-1 after extra time.
Eriksen’s Denmark have missed out on a quarter-final with Russia and potential semi-final with England if the Three Lions get there.
