Tottenham Hotspur take on Everton at White Hart Lane on Sunday and Harry Kane’s battle with Ashley Williams could be crucial.

Ben Davies has heaped praise upon Everton defender Ashley Williams ahead of Tottenham’s game against the Toffees, but also backed Spurs teammate Harry Kane to get the better of their upcoming battle, the Telegraph reports.

The two sides meet at White Hart Lane on Sunday in what promises to be an intriguing game. Mauricio Pochettino’s men are flying high in the Premier League currently, and are going into the contest off the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Stoke last time out.

Meanwhile, Everton have been fantastic lately. Ronald Koeman’s side have not lost in the league since mid-December and have won four of their last six, including a 4-0 of their own, this time however against Manchester City.

Therefore, the contest may well come down to the smallest of margins and who wins the individual battles. And perhaps no where on the pitch is the battle as crucial as the one between Kane and Williams. And Davies – who is, of course, the latter’s teammate with Wales – has suggested that both men could be in for a difficult afternoon.

“They are both top players,” he said, as reported by the Telegraph.

“I’ve played with Ash for years now and he is a top, top defender – for him his first job is defending, not playing out of defence or anything else, none of the ‘nonsense’, as he would call it.

“It is going to be a tough game for Harry but I can see him doing it against any defender in the game so Ash will be up for a tough game.”

While Everton have kept two clean sheets in their last two games, you would do well to find a striker in better form than Kane at the moment – perhaps only the man leading the line for the Toffees, Romelu Lukaku, can compete on that front.

Kane has scored three hat-tricks since mid-January, and 12 in total since the turn of the year. And with Tottenham having an opportunity to close the gap at the top to just seven points if they win against Everton, the Englishman will know how important it is that he wins the battle with Williams and adds to his tally once again.
