Tottenham’s Son Heung-min celebrates scoring their third goal
Tottenham Hotspur made it 11 home Premier League wins in a row with a convincing 4-0 win over Watford at White Hart Lane this afternoon.
Spurs went into the game having picked up vital away wins over Burnley and Swansea City over the last week, and they were rampant against an injury-hit Watford side.
Tottenham took the lead when Dele Alli curled home a stunning long-range effort, and Eric Dier smashed the ball in from the edge of the box after Son Heung-min’s deflected strike fell kindly to him.
Son then got himself on the scoresheet by smashing in a left-footed strike from long range, and the South Korean added his second and Tottenham’s fourth by side-footing Kieran Trippier’s deep cross into the net.
Whilst Son stole the show with a superb display, the winger could have had so much more having missed two outstanding chances to add to his account late on.
Harry Kane picked Son out with the goal at his mercy, but he somehow contrived to put the ball wide of goal, before he hit the bar with a shot from Trippier’s clever pass.
Tottenham’s Son Heung-min is congratulated by Mauricio Pochettino after being substituted off
Son was clearly gutted having missed chances to bag a hat-trick, with his anguish clear as he was substituted in favour of Joshua Onomah with just two minutes of normal time to play.
After the game, Son revealed to Tottenham’s official Twitter account that manager Mauricio Pochettino consoled him by telling him to save his goals for next week’s encounter with Bournemouth – and Son hopes to repay his manager’s faith with more goals.
