Tottenham Hotspur want Emiliano Martinez and the goalkeeper is now set to hold talks over his future with Aston Villa.
Give Me Sport reported earlier this month that Tottenham are interested in luring former Arsenal goalkeeper Martinez back to North London.
Hugo Lloris turns 36 next week and Tottenham need to think about a successor for the Frenchman given that there is nobody at Spurs currently screaming out as an heir.
Martinez is thought to be one target for Tottenham and they were surely impressed with him on Sunday evening.
The 30-year-old stopper helped Argentina win the World Cup against France as he saved from Kingsley Coman in the penalty shootout.
Martinez’s mind games also contributed to Aurelien Tchouameni firing his effort wide, with Martinez an absolute hero in Argentina now.
The irony is that Martinez’s display meant Lloris missed out on a second World Cup winner’s medal – and the Aston Villa ace could even replace him.

Tottenham target Martinez set for Aston Villa talks
Spurs will now be paying very close attention as Martinez prepares to hold talks with Villa about his future.
90Min claim that Martinez is set to speak to Villa to figure out what the future holds for him amid interest from a number of clubs.
Martinez wants to find out whether Villa’s ambitions match his own, as he wants to play in the Champions League.
The appointment of Unai Emery certainly suggests that Villa are aiming high but Martinez still needs some reassurance.
If Martinez doesn’t like what he hears, he may well explore interest from other clubs and chase a move away from Villa Park.
Martinez is though contracted to Villa until 2027 and with no known release clause, Villa are in a very strong position.
That means Tottenham will surely have to dig deep to sign Martinez and a deal feels a little difficult to imagine right now.
