Tottenham Hotspur appear to have dropped a very big hint about Gareth Bale.
The 31-year-old was photographed being driven into Hotspur Way on Friday as his season-long loan from Real Madrid took a big step toward being completed.
But there was no announcement from Tottenham on Friday night which worried some fans of the North London club.
And although the Lilywhites are still yet to confirm it, their social media admin has dropped quite a big clue about him joining – and specifically, what number shirt he’ll wear.
Tottenham changed their Twitter bio to the following numbers: “16:03:11:09” alongside an emoji of a house – or a home?
It looks like random numbering, but 16, 3 and 11 were Bale’s three previous shirt numbers at Spurs, suggesting he is set to wear the vacant number nine shirt.
This could be the biggest transfer to happen across Europe in this window and it’s clear that Tottenham are getting a brilliant player back.
Yes, he was frozen out of Zinedine Zidane’s plans in the Spanish capital, but we’re talking about a player who commanded a world-record transfer fee of £85 million seven years ago.
Plus, he’s still only 31 and with his speed, he could be a huge asset for Jose Mourinho this season.
That being said, The Telegraph has also reported that he might not make his second debut for the North Londoners until after the international break in October due to a knee injury.
But we have a pretty indication as to what shirt number he’ll be wearing when he does finally pull on the jersey again.
