Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has picked Juan Foyth five times this season.

Paulo Gazzaniga of Spurs looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium on November 5, 2017 in London, England.

Paulo Gazzaniga has praised Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth for making such vast improvements on ESPN.

Foyth was only a reserve option for Tottenham prior to the start of the season, but he has come into the starting line-up in recent weeks.

The Argentine centre-back may have made an error in his last appearance against Arsenal, but he has generally impressed.

And Gazzaniga has admitted that he has seen vast improvements in Foyth’s performances at Spurs.

“At the moment with Juan I’m very happy because I see the improvement in him since the first day. I see in that guy that he fights, he works and tries to be the best always. I’m so happy because his mentality is always to go and improve himself,” Gazzaniga said.

“Mauricio always tries to give you the opportunity to keep improving. I think that’s his main quality, that he always wants you to be the best, and I think that affects a lot of players.”

Foyth has still only played five times this season for Tottenham, but the signs are that he has Mauricio Pochettino’s backing now.

Pochettino started Foyth ahead of Toby Alderweireld in the North London derby at the weekend in a shock call.

It remains to be seen whether Foyth will keep his place in Tottenham’s starting line-up tonight, when they take on Southampton at Wembley.
