West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Darren Bent claimed that finishing fifth would be a better achievement than winning the FA Cup.
The former England striker made the bold claim on talkSPORT, and said the club’s supporters would prefer a fifth-place finish over lifting the FA Cup.
Now, that is a bizarre claim.
Bent justified his comments by saying that he thinks it’ll be too hard for the Hammers to replicate a Premier League season such as this, whereas they can focus on the FA Cup next term.
However, what Bent doesn’t mention is that any side who wins the FA Cup also gets a place in the Europa League.

In that respect, surely it would be worth putting all of your eggs in the FA Cup basket?
Furthermore, if David Moyes was unwilling to do that, then why choose?
Winning breeds confidence, and there’s no reason why the Hammers can’t attempt to do both and win the FA Cup as well as finish fifth, especially with the squad they have.

It’s no wonder that Bent’s comments haven’t gone down too well with the West Ham supporters on Twitter.
They seem completely baffled, and rightly so.
Let’s see what they’ve been saying about his thoughts…
