Speaking on the Football CFB Podcast, former Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom has claimed that Andrea Radrizzani has changed a lot since he worked with him.

Heckingbottom of course worked alongside Radrizzani during the 2017/18 season during his short spell as Whites manager.

At the time, Radrizzani was new to the world of football club ownership, and Heckingbottom says that the Italian has become more skilled as he’s become more experienced.

What’s been said?

Heckingbottom was talking about his time at Leeds.

“It’s frustrating, but as you say, Andrea was a brand new owner, he was new in the job and he’s a totally different owner now on the back of his experiences, just like we learn as managers, owners learn as owners, and it’s good to speak about it, because the next owner I have could be brand new again. Andrea is more skilled now and has worked with different managers and he understands his role more as an owner now. It was probably the right club at the wrong time for me,” Heckingbottom said.

Better owner

In Radrizzani’s early days at Leeds it looked as though he was going to pick up where Massimo Cellino had left off.

He was trigger happy, sacking Thomas Christiansen after a few months, with Heckingbottom not far behind him, and he made a number of questionable signings in his early days.

However, after the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa, Radrizzani has learnt a lot, he seems to have a plan and every move he makes looks like a masterstroke.

It’s fair to say that Radrizzani has completely transformed the Elland Road outfit, and he’s undoubtedly the best owner they’ve had in years.
