Lord Sugar has expressed his annoyance and anger on Twitter at the penalty awarded to Southampton against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
Tottenham got the better of Southampton 5-2 away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
In the 90th minute of the encounter, Matt Doherty was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the Spurs penalty area.
As reported by Football.London, Moussa Djenepo’s intended cross bounced off Harry Winks and up onto the arm of Doherty.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers right-back did not handle the ball intentionally and knew little about it, but referee David Coote awarded a spot kick after watching the incident on the pitchside monitor.
Former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar has slammed the decision, and believes that the handball rule needs to be changed.
Positive result for Tottenham Hotspur
Danny Ings made no mistake from the penalty spot, but it did not matter in the end, as Spurs won 5-2.
It was a very good performance from Jose Mourinho’s side, who are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
