Last month it was reported that Arsenal were back in for a certain Youssef En-Nesyri [Planet Sport].

The Morocco international has been linked with a transfer to Arsenal about a dozen times down the years.

But on this occasion it’s a little more credible, given that the Gunners will be signing a number of strikers during the summer transfer window.

However, Mikel Arteta and Edu might have other plans if they watched him in action for Sevilla against Granada last night.

En-Nesyri was on the winning side as Sevilla registered a 4-2 victory, but Spanish publication AS still savaged him nevertheless.

Simply, AS wrote about the 24-year-old: “The definition of a total failure.”

Bad performance?

Sometimes the media can be accused of being a little harsh on footballers.

However, the reported Arsenal target was genuinely a passenger.

Es-Nesyri got taken off at half time last night after manging only 10 touches in 45 minutes, underlining just how anonymous he was.

Even his passing was askew and only clocked a percentage of 50 percent – and we’re talking about a total of six passes [WhoScored].

Alexandre Lacazette is capable of being anonymous for the Gunners and the Frenchman is, at the moment, leaving on a Bosman this summer.

Arsenal need much better than Lacazette next season and if En-Nesyri is capable of the same anonymity, perhaps Arteta and Edu should look elsewhere.
