Should Celtic hand Emilio Izaguirre a new contract?
Tosh McKinlay has suggested to The National that it would be good for Celtic if Emilio Izaguirre remains at the club.
Izaguirre has been on the books of Celtic since 2010 and has a contract with the Scottish giants until the end of the 2017-18 season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
As reported by The National, the Bhoys paid Motagua a transfer fee of £650,000 in order to secure the services of the defender in the summer of 2010.
The Honduras international defender recently told The Daily Record that manager Brendan Rodgers wants him to stay at Celtic Park.
The 31-year-old left-back also claimed that he wants to stay at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic for three more years.
Former Celtic and Scotland international full-back McKinlay, who is 52 years of age, has suggested that Izaguirre would be good to have at the Bhoys.
“Kieran has obviously been in fantastic form in his position,” McKinlay told The National.
“But Emilio has proved over the past seasons that he is a top player as well. As a player and as a person he is a top man to have around the club.”
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup during the 2016-17 campaign.
The Glasgow giants will be aiming to win the domestic treble next season, as well as progress to the group stage of the Champions League.
